King David Hotel, Jerusalem, Israel
Location:
The King David Hotel in Jerusalem is probably the best grand hotel in Israel.
The Federmann family purchased the property at the beginning of 1957. In
1961, the ruined wing of the hotel was renovated and in 1966, two extra
floors were added. Since that time, the hotel has been linked with the
peace process mapped out in the region and has hosted kings, queens, presidents,
and heads of governments and celebrities from all walks of life. Three
world leaders fleeing from their homelands sought asylum in the luxury
and elegance of the hotel: King Alfonso VIII of Spain, forced to abdicate
in 1931, Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, and George II of Greece. And
if you book the red carpet package, you will get an inclusive transport
from and to Ben Gurion Airport.
History:

Mosseri bankers family decided to build a luxury hotel in Jerusalem. The

decorator was briefed to “evoke, by reminiscence, the ancient Semitic style
and the ambience of the glorious period of King David.” The King David
finally opened its doors in January 1931. Royalty and heads of state soon
began to frequent the hotel for varying lengths of time. The Dowager Empress
of Iran and Queen Mother Nazli of Egypt would spend their summer vacations
