Location:
Grandhotel Pupp is located in Carlsbad (Kalovy Vary), Czech Republic,
which is the grand hotel starring in the latest James Bond film “Casino
Royal”, including the nearby casino. Carlsbad is a town of remedial springs,
of a rich history, beautiful architecture and nature. It lies in the valley
of the Teplá river, at the confluence spot with the Ohre river.
Carlsbad is offering itself for a visit and stay to anyone who is longing
to experience peaceful moments in the unique atmosphere of the world-famous
spa town. The Carlsbad`s altitude is 370 m, but the nearby hills are over
640 m. The Carlsbad balneology, over 600 years old, is built upon its curative
effects, which attracted many famous visitors. From approximately 100 springs
of various yields, 12 of them are captured; their temperature varies from
42°C to 72°C.
History:
In 1907, the collection of individual buildings of the hotel was eventually
incorporated in the neo-baroque “Gandhotel Pupp”. Years 1922-23 were the
climax of construction and modernization of the entire hotel. Every room
received its own bathroom with warm and cold water. The ballroom is a grand
venue for balls and similar parties. In the last 200 years there was hardly
a famous visitor to the city, who wouldn’t come to the world famous hotel.
Some of the honoured guests of the 18th century were, for example:
musical composer Johann Sebastian Bach; Russian Tsar Peter the Great; founder
of the modern balneology Dr. David Becher; Prussian King Friedrich I.,
Gottfried Wilhelm Leibnitz or Austrian Empress Marie Teresie of Habsburg
and the famous German chancellor Otto von Bismark.
Rooms
and Suites: Grand Hotel Pupp has 111 luxuriously equipped rooms, suites
and apartments with minibar, safe, satellite TV with Pay-TV, radio, telephone,
Wi-Fi, luxury bathroom and WC, some rooms are also equipped with air-conditioning.
The adjacent Parkhotel Pupp on the left side has 117 comfort rooms with
minibar, safe, satellite TV with Pay-TV system, radio, telephone, bathroom
and WC, which were renovated until 2006. History walked through every room
- celebrities used them to stay for shorter or longer periods. Have
a look at the rooms in which the movie stars were staying such as Gregory
Peck, Alan Alda, Michael Douglas, Ornella Muti, or Spanish King Juan Carlos.
A countless number of political figures used the accommodation here, too.
Restaurants
and Bars: Grandrestaurant Pupp is the most luxurious restaurant
in the hotel in neoclassical architecture. It is lead by the chef Jan Pípal,
who prepared a new choice of meals in the Grandrestaurant for the specialities
of the Czech and international haute cuisine. Its comfortable atmosphere
is accompanied by cosy eating corners. La Belle Epoche is a hotel
restaurant in the style of the 1920s. Club Mala Dvorana is a unique
bar with a nineteenth century atmosphere, situated in the oldest part of
the hotel. Café Pupp is the place to have a piece of cake,
hot desserts, toasts or milk shakes. Becher’s Bar is the night bar
with live jazz or swing music until the early morning.
Sport
and Spa: Grandhotel Pupp collaborates with 3 golf courses in the neighbourhood:
The Golf course Karlovy Vary (7 km away), the Golf course Cihelny (6 km
away) and Golf course Mariánské lázne 35 km away from
the hotel. There are two tennis clubs near the hotel (TC Gejzírpark,
and TC Imperial). The guest service of the Grandhotel Pupp will be happy
to arrange a rental of bikes. The estate in Depoltovice provides the horse
riding. There are 20 different routs for spa walks in the near surroundings.
Fishing and shooting can be arranged by the hotel as well. The relaxation
and treatment centre is a directly connected part of the hotel. All areas
are newly built and offer a wide variety of treatment and relaxation programmes.
You can take a classical spa treatment for metabolism, digestive and motor
disorders, treat yourself to a rejuvenation with the oxygen therapy treatment
programme or try an anti-stress programme.
