Charles Tyrwhitt was founded in November 1986 by Nicholas Charles Tyrwhitt Wheeler while he was a student reading Geography at Bristol University. Nick recognised that there was a clear gap in the quality shirt market between the traditional shirtmakers of Jermyn Street and the upmarket high street retail chains such as Marks & Spencer. 

Since then Charles Tyrwhitt has become home to the finest quality shirt makers in the world and it continues to offer its unique combination of quality and service to all those able to visit Jermyn Street and also almost half a million customers around the world. 
 

Only the very finest Egyptian cotton is used to make their 100% two-fold cotton poplin.  The double seams are pucker-free because Charles Tyrwhitt still uses single-needle stitching for their shirts. All formal shirts come with 50 collar size and sleeve length options and removable brass collar stiffeners to give them a bespoke feeling. Over the years Charles Tyrwhitt has extended their range to include high quality shoes, suits and smart casual shirts.

Charles Tyrwhitt is famous for its three month no quibble guarantee. Should a Charles Tyrwhitt product not meet with approval, it can be returned within three months of the purchase order, washed or unwashed, for an exchange or a full and immediate refund.
